Growing the Game: Pioneers FC Partners with Phoenix FC for Futsal Development 2024
At Pioneers FC, our mission has always been to grow the game of futsal in Manitoba and across Canada.
This past season, we were excited to collaborate with Phoenix FC to bring their players a dedicated futsal program, led by none other than our own Coach Anderson Pereira.
Coach Anderson, supported by both his staff and Phoenix FC’s coaches, has been introducing athletes to the unique skill set and fast-paced creativity that futsal develops. With futsal’s emphasis on decision-making in tight spaces, quick transitions, and technical mastery, it’s no surprise that players are already seeing the benefits carry over into their outdoor game.
About Coach Anderson Pereira
Coach Anderson brings a wealth of experience both on and off the court:
- Brazilian roots in futsal, where the sport first shaped his creativity and technical skills.
- MCAC Futsal Champion and MVP (2017) with Red River College.
- Canadian National Futsal Team ID Camp (2018), training under the national program.
- Founder, player, and coach of Pioneers FC, Manitoba’s only exclusive futsal club, with six consecutive provincial titles and a 3rd-place finish at the 2024 Canadian Futsal Championship.
- Head Coach at Canadian Mennonite University, where he’s earned multiple MCAC Coach of the Year awards and two championships.
- Licensed Coach with a CSA Intro to Futsal Course and a UEFA C Futsal License (Portugal, 2024) through CSA and the Portuguese Federation.
Coach Anderson’s passion for futsal is contagious, and his leadership has been instrumental in building futsal pathways for players of all ages here in Manitoba.

Looking Ahead
We’re proud to see futsal becoming a bigger part of youth development programs across Winnipeg. The Phoenix FC program is another step forward in ensuring more young athletes have access to elite coaching, training opportunities, and the chance to discover the game we love.
We’d like to thank Phoenix FC for trusting Pioneers FC to help bring futsal to their community. Together, we’re committed to raising the level of the sport and creating more opportunities for players to grow.
