Canada: identification camp
We’re proud to celebrate the accomplishments of three Pioneers FC standouts—Anderson Pereira, Derek Mains, and Adam Mooi—who were selected for the Canada Soccer Futsal National Team identification camp in September 2018, held in Gatineau, Québec.

Canada Soccer announced its roster for the National Futsal Team identification camp in Gatineau, Québec, held 6–9 September 2018.
Head Coach Kyt Selaidopoulos selected players who competed at the 2018 Futsal Canadian Championship, including the first-ever selections from Yukon and Nunavut.
This camp marked the first step in assembling the squad that would build on the success of the 2016 Concacaf Futsal Championship team, who came within one point of qualifying for the FIFA Futsal World Cup.
Coach’s Vision
“We are looking for players who are committed to this program on the road to the 2020 FIFA Futsal World Cup,” said Selaidopoulos, Canada Soccer’s National Futsal Team Head Coach. “There is a core group of players who competed in Costa Rica (2016 Concacaf Futsal Championship) as well as a new wave of talented futsal players who will compete to be part of the 14 who will attend the 2020 Concacaf Futsal Championship.”
The camp introduced many players to the National Team environment for the first time. Selaidopoulos emphasized the importance of professionalism and ongoing development:
“These players will be given the required tools to continue to develop as futsal players and an overview of the professionalism required to continue to advance futsal in this country. It will be up to these players to carry the torch and continue to push their own training environments if we are to be successful in 2020.”
